知名大导 Martin Scorsese 曾拍摄过《Goodfellas》、《Taxi Driver》、《The King of Comedy》与《The Wolf of Wall Street》等膾炙人口的经典名作，其中《Taxi Driver》与《The King of Comedy》更是近期 DC 大热电影《Joker》导演 Todd Phillips 表明致敬的作品。

近期 Martin Scorsese 正忙于宣传新片《Irishman》，并于《Empire》专访时评论了对 Marvel 英雄电影系列的看法：「我不看那些，我曾尝试过，你知道吗？那些不能算是电影（Cinema），就我而言我只能以「主题游乐园」来形容它们，它们不是那种透过人与人之间传达情感与心灵体验的电影。」

“I don’t see them. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”

此言论当然引起了轩然大波，作为《Guardians of the Galaxy》系列导演的 James Gunn 也跳出发布看法，他表示 Martin Scorsese 是他热爱的 5 位在世电影人之一，过去只要有人表示看不懂《The Last Temptation of Christ》，他都会感到很气愤，如今 Martin Scorsese 会这样批判 Marvel 英雄电影，他很难过。
